The 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks may have been this weekend, but Binghamton University is still honoring the victims in a very special way.
The university held its 12th Mitzvah Marathon yesterday. It's where students, faculty, and staff can do a good deed dedicated to the memory of a 9/11 victim.
This year's options included donating to charity, helping make a quilt for children and donating blood to the Red Cross. Organizers say its a great thing for the college community.
"It's so crucial because you have students here that weren't even alive during 9/11 and they're here even to commemorate such an event. And it's really nice to see they're taking such an act of darkness into light by such small steps of kindness and small deeds," said
Fifteen victims in the 9/11 attacks were from Binghamton University.
