James Davis has been a lifelong Broome County resident.

"It's heavy but it comes up in good chunks," joked Davis.

He and his wife, Debra, are lending a helping hand to residents who can't shovel themselves out of the snow.

"When I was a kid, I grew up in this area and I was a nuisance. Now I'm trying to pay it forward in a positive," said Davis.

The village of Endicott was asking volunteers to step up and help clear snow after last week's storm because of how backed up work was.

James and his wife are the only ones so far who have called to help.

"Why am I the only person that has volunteered to help people in need during this clean up? You know what I mean? When the police in Endicott told me that, I couldn't believe it because that ain't the town I grew up in."

So far, James and Debra have helped clear out six driveways, most of them with a snowblower.

"All the snow is heavy now. It was nice and fluffy when I got stuck in it. It's just good to help your community, especially people who are in need," said Debra.

At the end of the day, this couple believes they are just doing their part to help others.

"Don't matter if it's me. It don't matter who it is. Each one of us play a part in the community," said James Davis.
