Bruce Gregory was planning on reopening his cinema Friday night.
"We set up advertising, we ordered extra inventory," said Gregory, the co-owner of Endicott's Cinema Saver.
Word got out Tuesday night that reopening movie theaters was being pushed back.
"We did find out late,” he said. “It was a disappointment, we understand the concern for public safety, and above all we want our customers to be safe, our staff, and the community."
But Gregory thinks everyone would be safe.
"We're definitely ready, we've been in cleaning theaters, disinfecting theaters, going through different protocols," said Gregory. "Some above and beyond what the state is asking for."
This cinema isn't alone in waiting for the green light. Conrad Zurich owns a dozen theaters in our region, including Hollywood Theater in Mattydale. His theaters have been closed since March.
So, faithful customers will keep waiting to watch their favorite films.
"So many people responded to our Facebook post today that they're still going to be here, just waiting for us to open and they will be here when we do open," said Gregory.
