Recent protests at Binghamton University have gained the attention of President Donald Trump.

Conservative economist Art Laffer was speaking on campus last month when a student protest broke out. Trump addressed the incident at the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit. He called the students "radicals," saying "they swing clubs, they swing bats, they swing everything."

"A mob flooded the place wearing masks and red arm bands and acted tough,” said President Trump. “Take the mask off, take their jackets off, you'll see their arms are about this big."

Spectrum News was at the university when the protest happened and our cameras didn't capture any of the images described by the president. However, multiple students were arrested that night.

A Binghamton University freshman was also invited on stage at the president's conference to speak about the protest.

"Really, what we need to do is we need to bring back freedom of speech on our campuses. We cannot let these radical leftists continue to suppress our speech," said Lacey Kestecher, a freshman at Binghamton University.

Binghamton University's College Republicans chapter has been suspended by the university.
