Owego Apalachin is the only school district in the Southern Tier that failed to pass its budget. Now, district leaders are hoping to clarify their message to get the community's support.

The district held a budget workshop to look at their next steps.

Leaders say misinformation flooded the community, which led to confusion about next year's costs. They say if the current budget is not passed, the district will face major program cuts.

"Some of the programs we're looking at now and into the future, they're really exciting not just for us but for the kids,” said Owego Apalachin President Board of Education Gene Cvik. “And this could be a big roadblock for this year and for future years."

The board hopes to make a decision in Thursday's meeting. That will take place at 7 p.m.
