Two candidates are making a primary push to run for Broome County District Attorney.

People were able to get a better feel for who the candidates are at a question and answer session Wednesday. Paul Battisti and Michael Korchak were questioned by criminal justice professors at SUNY Broome.

Much of the discussion focused on how each person would respond to legislative changes in 2020.

"God forbid that you or a loved one was a victim of a violent crime. Who would you want evaluating that case? Who would you want prosecuting that case? You'd want someone with thirty years of experience as a trial attorney," said Michael Korchak.

Candidates talked about what they could bring to the table if elected as District Attorney.

"People are frustrated, it's not working. Crime is not the way it should be in Broome County. We have too many homicides. Already in Broome County this year, we've had four homicides. We had one right across the border last week, it's not working," said Paul Battisti.

The primary election is June 25th.
