Police in Johnson City are investigating an incident Tuesday night in which two people were shot.
According to Johnson City Police, the incident began as an argument and escalated into a physical fight involving multiple people around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on Grand Avenue near Boland Drive.
A gun was introduced to the fight and two people suffered minor gunshot wounds.
"It's alarming, and it's not something we're used to, but we're going to work very hard to solve these cases and bring the perpetrators to justice," said Brent Dodge, Johnson City Police Chief.
Police said a suspect is in custody and that they are anticipating charges in the near future. Detectives are trying to identify and locate the other suspects that were involved.
Police were assisted by the Metro SWAT team Wednesday morning in executing a search warrant on Hudson Street to look for evidence related to the incident.
This is not believed to be connected to last week’s homicide, which also occurred on Grand Avenue, according to police.
