The man charged with injuring a sheriff’s deputy in a wrong-way DWI crash has been released on a pre-trial release program.

Daniel Butash, was reportedly going to post $10,000 bail but instead pursued a pre-trial release.

He has been charged with DWI, assault in the 2nd degree and vehicular assault in the 2nd degree.

The charges stem from an incident last Friday when Broome County Deputy Kristy Botsford was assisting Vestal Police in pulling over Butash for driving the wrong way on State Route 17 when he allegedly hit her head-on.

Botsford suffered a broken right femur in the crash and was trapped in her car for more than an hour. She would eventually have to be rescued with the Jaws of Life.

Butash currently has to have alcohol monitoring in his home and has to do it four times a day.

The 34-year-old works at Lockheed Martin and has two young children.
