Community members rallied for change amid an alleged strip-search incident.

More than 100 people stood outside Binghamton's East Middle School, after four black girls were allegedly strip-searched on January 15th.

The incident happened on January 15th when four students came back from lunch and were acting out of the ordinary. School officials asked them to be evaluated because they thought the girls might be on drugs.

From there, reports say the girls were strip-searched.

The district says there is no evidence that a strip-search happened and claims there is a lot of misinformation out there. While the truth is muddied, demonstrators believe there have been multiple incidents.

"We're taking back our district, we're taking back our community and we're saying that our kids will be protected," said Shanel Boyce. "We will do what we have to do and the school district and all of the employees as well as the board, they are accountable to this community and they must stand up and do what's right for these children,"

The school district says it is working with a law firm to conduct an objective review of the incident.
