The Binghamton City School District stated twice in a letter dated Thursday that strip searches were not conducted on any students.

According to the group PLOT: Progressive Leaders of Tomorrow, 200 people convened at this week's school board meeting "in response to four 12-year-old girls being strip searched by East Middle School administrators."

The district begins its letter with "misinformation being spread through social media from third parties" which it claims was then presented to the board.

The letter states that:

"When conducting medical evaluation, it may require the removal of bulky outside clothing to expose an arm so that vitals like blood pressure and pulse can be assessed. This is not the same as a strip search."

PLOT has organized a rally for Tuesday, Jan. 29 "to alert parents and students of their right to refuse invasive and discriminatory searches being conducted by school faculty and staff."
