It's not every day a television show is filmed inside your family business.

Over the summer, production crews took over Scott's Family Resort on Oquaga Lake in Deposit.

They set out to film three episodes of the hit Amazon show, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.”

"They enjoyed looking at the recreation room and all of that with the bowling alleys and it just seemed to fit what they were looking for," said Patty Holdrege, Scott's Family Resort owner.

The show centers around Midge, a housewife in the late 1950s, who is pursuing a career in comedy.

In episode four of Season Two, she heads to the Catskills for a family vacation.

That lands her at Scott’s, at what the show renamed Steiner Mountain Resort.

"It was so many things going on and cameras and equipment being moved and lights and it was just a major project so when you see all those names at the end of the show, each one of them had a job to do and it was just amazing to watch," said Gary Holdrege, Scott's Family Resort owner.

This isn't the resort’s first run-in with a major production company.

Back in the 1980s, they were contacted about filming on Oquaga Lake by a movie you may have heard of.

"They wanted to close us down to shoot the movie for two months. We just couldn’t do it because we had all these commitments. Looking back, if we had known it was “Dirty Dancing,” I guess we might have changed our plans around," said Holdrege.

Following the show's premiere, the resort's phone has been ringing off the hook.

Their website even crashed due to all the traffic.

"A lot of people didn’t know that we existed so this has sort of given us a little bit of life back into our family business," said Holdrege.

Scott's Family Resort will celebrate 150 years in 2019.
