BRADFORD, N.Y. -- Steven Kiley, 43, was the pre-kindergarten through 12th grade principal at Bradford Central School. He's the man officials say shot and killed Trooper Nicholas Clark in Erwin Monday morning.

Kiley was found dead inside the home from an apparent gunshot wound after troopers were called to the home for a domestic dispute call.

Some of Kiley's students are in disbelief, saying this incident is out of character for him. They described positive interactions with their principal.

For them, the school will never be the same.

"He was very outgoing," said Caleb Wakeman, Bradford Central School District sophomore. "He liked sports, he liked to interact with the kids when they were outside playing kickball. He was a good influence on kids. He would help me."

Spectrum News reached out to the Bradford Central School, but so far there has been no comment.
