Cooper Busch, known as Super Cooper, passed away early Sunday morning.

The 4-year-old’s family told the community about it on Facebook.

Super Cooper was born with Down syndrome and was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in 2016.

After going through countless treatments, he beat the disease last May. But he was diagnosed for a second time just months later.

People across the region have pitched in to help support the family from the moment he was diagnosed.

Broome County Senator Fred Akshar weighed in on the news, saying:

"Cooper changed the lives of so many for the better, at just 4 years old he brought a community together and through his struggle reminded us what truly is important in life. His infectious smile and loving personality will live on forever through his family and our community."
