BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Hundreds of runners took part in the 8th annual Binghamton Bridge Run.
They had their choice of either participating in the half-marathon or 5K. Supporters also lined up along the route to cheer on the runners.
The course takes them across four bridges, under one and through the Westside and Southside. The event allows people to see what the city has to offer, while helping out a local organization.
“Every year the Bridge Run chooses a charity partner in our community this year is the Retired Professional Firefighter’s Cancer Fund. And they raise money for cancer research, primarily cancers that firefighters would be exposed to. But a portion of today's proceeds will go to them," said Race Director Amy Shaw.
The chamber of commerce will present a check to the retired professional firefighters cancer fund at a dinner next week.
