The Elmira-Corning Regional Airport is welcoming an old airline back.
United Airlines announced Monday that the carrier would be coming back to the Twin Tiers airport. This comes after a two-year absence. Elmira-Corning Regional will fly passengers directly to Newark Liberty International.
"As we continue to compete, continue to try and attract to business here, this airport is critical as an economic engine to draw people here," said Chemung County Executive Tom Santulli. "When we lost Philadelphia -- that was a major setback -- we pick up Newark. United's a great airline, Newark's a great airport."
United will be offering two flights a day from Elmira-Corning Regional.
