ENDICOTT, N.Y. -- The birthplace of one of Broome County's most famous local pizza chains is closing its doors for a possible restructuring.

The original Nirchi's on Pine Street in Endicott will shut down Sunday.

The market opened for the first time, more than 50 years ago in the spring of 1967.

It sold everything from groceries and deli meat to, of course, their famous pizza.

Owner Patricia Nirchi said it was a very difficult situation to make, but she appreciates the support through the years at all of their locations.

She said Nirchi's will continue to offer service at their other six locations, hopefully for the next 50 years.
