It's a problem school teachers face every fall: etting students re-engaged after their long summer vacation.

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo joined students at Cosgrove Middle School in Spencerport Monday morning to talk about Explore Monroe, a county program to keep students engaged in learning over the summer.

The new program is for all kids in Monroe County.

They can earn free tickets to local events if they go to various county facilities like the zoo, parks and libraries. The interactive program is designed to keep kids active mentally and physically.

"Summertime is a time to be outside and get out and do things rather than sit home and play video games," Dinolfo said.

Kids earn points for each place they go, which can lead to free tickets to baseball games, the zoo and other local attractions.
