RHINECLIFF, N.Y. -- There are plenty of reasons to take the Amtrak train from Rhinecliff.

"I love taking the train up in the morning and taking the riverside seats,” said Jorge Cortinaas.

Cortinaas has a lot of company. According to Amtrak Officials this was the company’s fourth busiest station in the state and 50th in the country as of fiscal year 2016 which ended in September.

“More than 200,000 people used the station in our last fiscal year, and it’s an important station for us,” said Amtrak Media Relations Representative for New York Craig Schulz.

Amtrak officials said that may be partly because of the number of other places people can connect to from Rhinecliff.

"Passenger rail stations are gateways to individual communities. In the case of Rhinecliff, it operates on our Hudson Line. It has four different services that operate through the station,” said Schulz.

Rhinebeck Town Supervisor Elizabeth Spinzia said that, when people get off the train, there are plenty of things for them to do.

"The village [of Rhinebeck] is a wonderful center of the town. We have great shops, we have fantastic restaurants and a lot of them. I mean, several dozen,” she said.

According to local leaders like Spinzia, the Rhinecliff station isn't just a place to go away from, but also a place to come back to.
