BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- A group of students at Binghamton University are calling on the school's president to ban a food packaging company from their campus.

They're claiming the Pactiv-Reynolds Corporation recently forced women in New Jersey to work up to 84 hours a week and caused serious injury to their workers.

The university uses the company's products in their dining halls, including food trays, cups, boxes and plastic cutlery.

Students say by purchasing them, the university is promoting oppressive working conditions.

At a rally Thursday, they said their main goals were to have their voices heard and spread their message throughout the campus.

"We want other students to kind of stand with us and say that we should have some sort of power in this university," said Mary Lister, Students Organizing Against Reynolds member. "We're the ones that makes this university possible and the president should be accountable to what we want him to do."

Time Warner Cable News reached out to the Pactiv-Reynolds Corporation, but have not yet heard back.

Sodexo Dining Services Resident District Manager Jim Ruoff issued a statement saying:

"We at Sodexo take the concerns of our customers seriously and work closely with our partners to ensure that all suppliers adhere to Sodexo’s Supplier Code of Conduct, which includes clauses on human rights,  the fundamental rights of laborers, protecting the environment, creating an inclusive supply chain, and the agreement that suppliers will take appropriate steps to apply the principles of this Code throughout their organizations. Sodexo has met with the Students Organized Against Reynolds twice, including once with Pactiv Representatives, and have asked them to verify or substantiate their claims against Reynolds/Pactiv. We have not yet received a response."
