BATH, N.Y. -- The Bath Fire Department got a bit of a scare overnight.

Around 1:20 a.m. a call came into 911 for a house fire on West Morris Street.

The caller notified them that there may be children inside, however, that was not the case. The family of five was not home at the time.

Nearly a dozen departments wound up responding to the scene to help extinguish the flames. One firefighter was brought to the hospital with injuries that were heat related.

The Red Cross was also brought in to assist the family, because the home is uninhabitable. Red Cross volunteers assisted one adult and four children.
