Changes to BC Transit bus routes could save about $470,000 per year, according to county lawmakers, but not everyone is getting on board with the idea.
The new route structure will take effect on February 29. County leaders say it will improve service to Oakdale Mall and Wegmans. And it will also connect more people to the rail trail.
Some lawmakers say implementing the new strategy in just ten days is not enough time for people who depend on the routes to adjust.
The county believes it is enough time though, saying there will be a social media blitz to make sure riders are aware. Some remain skeptical of that plan.
"Not everybody uses social media and heaven forbid you're on vacation a week and when you come back everything is changed. It's just not enough time," said County Legislator Mary Kaminsky.
The changes were made after a route evaluation last fall. Public meetings were held to discuss recommendations.
