COLONIE, N.Y. -- Outgoing Colonie Police Chief Steve Heider will be led out by bagpipes Friday afternoon in a ceremony honoring him for more than four decades of service.
Jonathan Teale was sworn in Thursday night as the town’s sixth chief of police.
A lifelong Colonie resident and a 25-year veteran of the department -- Teale's held several leadership positions and most recently acted as deputy chief.
''I look forward to work with all the community to keep Colonie safe, we have a great department, I'm very thankful to our town board and our community," he said.
Teale says he has big shoes to fill, but feels confident he can do the job.
