Elmira police have made an arrest after responding to a report of shots fired in the area of Pattinson Street near Oak Street just after 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Witnesses told them a man was shooting a gun before running from the area. Officers found a man matching the description in the area of Matthews Street.

He was taken into custody and police recovered a handgun with several spent rounds.

James Jenkins, 22, currently faces one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Police say more charges are pending.
