Endicott residents are visiting their favorite local eateries this week and all for a good cause. Greater Endicott Restaurant Week is underway and whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner, customers are enjoying everything the area has to offer. Vince Briga shares how one local restaurant has been drawing thousands of customers throughout the years, all while supporting the local community.

ENDICOTT, N.Y. -- Endicott residents are dining out for a good cause. The second annual Restaurant Week is underway, and a number of restaurants including Joey's in Little Italy, are creating unique dishes and specials for the fundraising event.

Whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner, the village of Endicott has a variety of options to choose from and a rich restaurant history.

Joey's opened its doors in 2002, and has been giving back to the community ever since. Whether it's funding local concerts in the park, or sponsoring festivals in the village.

"We're helping out the community, that's the most important thing and the money stays here at home that's the most important thing. We live here. This is it. This is our home," said Joey DeGennaro, the owner of Joey's.

The restaurant is known for a variety of Italian dishes, along with its unique wood-fire, brick oven pizza which draws customers from all over the Southern Tier.

"There's only a couple of us around here that have it and I take it to heart. This is the true Artisan way. It's more the smells and the smells get into the food and it's a unique taste," said Joey DeGennaro.

Another attraction is their frozen custard and Italian ice which has customers lining up at this window each and every year.

"I grew up in Brooklyn and Staten Island. I grew up with Italian ice and I wanted it here. This is where I've made home and I wanted it here because nobody else had it," said Joey DeGennaro.

Proceeds from Greater Endicott Restaurant Week will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Western Broome for repairs and operation costs to give better opportunities to children in the area.

"We feel the support of the restaurants who are participating and the businesses who have been sponsors of this program that everybody realizes the club is important for not only the kids we serve, but we are a family center -- so also the adults we serve as well," Rick Materese, Boys and Girls Club of Western Broome executive director.

Joey's Pizzeria is one of 19 other restaurants taking part in restaurant week, and says they will continue to participate in years to come.

Other popular restaurants participating include Consol's, Fast Eddie's Cafe, and The Pantheon.

Greater Endicott Restaurant Week will continue through May 7.
