Parking just got a little tighter in downtown Binghamton as a portion of the Collier Street parking garage has been temporarily closed for repairs.

City officials say the work will temporarily close 200 of the garage's 535 spots. It is part of a $1.4 million plan to restore the city's three public garages. Repairs include floor drainage fixes, waterproofing measures and external steel beam rehabilitation.

Construction will continue until late summer and force some monthly permit holders to be relocated to the other municipal garages.

Daily parking is still available, but space is limited.
