1. State Supreme Court ruling upholds outside income limit for New York lawmakers

A state Supreme Court judge ruled in favor of a state law limiting the outside income of New York state lawmakers. The limit came along with a salary bump for the state Legislature that the governor signed into law in 2022.

2. As CDPAP deadline nears, calls for an extension grow

AARP, the nation's largest non-profit focusing on issues for people over the age of 50, sent a letter to Gov. Kathy Hochul asking her to delay the April 1 deadline, citing concerns over the current enrollment levels of both people who need care and their caregivers.

3. Voters petition to change upstate county's form of government

Matt Murell, Stockport’s town supervisor, serves as the Columbia County Board of Supervisors chairman. The Republican recently learned of a petition cthat calls for an overhaul of the current form of government, opting for the more common form of electing a county executive. He called it a purely Democratic initiative.
