Gordon Blakeslee has lived in Harpursville for decades. He doesn't get around like he used to. Needing a little help - to get from place to place. One thing Blakeslee has always had a passion for, is mowing the lawn.

What You Need To Know

  • Gordon Blakeslee had his mower stolen during the month of June

  • Blakeslee put a sign in his front yard pleading for his mower's return

  • An anonymous donor gifted Blakeslee a brand new Craftsman mower

"I don't like the way other people do it," as Blakeslee laughed.

But that passion was taken from him almost two months ago when someone stole his mower.

"I should know these people around here, but I guess I don't," said the 85-year-old.

Blakeslee created a sign, pleading with whoever stole his mower to bring it back.

"This last one, I had it all serviced and everything," he said.

No one has returned the Craftsman, but someone did get him a new one.

"I think it's gonna work out good," said Blakeslee.

Word spread of Blakeslee's mower gone missing over social media and an anonymous donor gifted the man a new one.

"I know it ain't the person that stole my other one, or they would have brought that back and kept this."

Because it's a pretty nice ride, like music to Blakeslee's ears. While he may need a little help getting from here to there, Blakeslee plans to keep mowing.

"As long as I keep active, I'm mowing right along," said Blakeslee.
