We are learning more about the investigation involving the plane carrying Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence and his staff that skidded off a runway at LaGuardia Airport.

The National Transportation Safety Board says it has excellent quality audio data from the plane's onboard data recorder.

The plane slid off after landing while it was raining just after 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The NTSB says it plans to examine factors like what the plane's crew was doing before landing, the aircraft's machinery and weather conditions. Crew members will also be interviewed.

"We are not here today or tomorrow to determine the cause of the accident. We're not here to speculate. We are here to collect what I call to be the 'perishable' evidence. It's that information that will go away with the passage of time," said NTSB Board Member Robert Sumwalt.

Once the plane came to a stop, emergency responders safely removed all 48 passengers and crew members.

No one was hurt.

Investigators say aerated cement blocks on the runway helped stop the plane from hitting a nearby highway.
