CAMILLUS, N.Y. -- Charges are filed against a former West Genesee Middle School teacher accused of sending inappropriate messages to a female student.
Michael Spath, 49 of Tully, has been indicted on one count of disseminating indecent material to a minor and endangering the welfare of a child.
The charges stem from a conversation Spath allegedly engaged in with a 14-year-old West Genesee Middle School student, using social media.
The Onondaga County's District Attorney's office says it spanned from November 28 through December 11th of last year, with the conversation eventually turning sexual in nature.
Spath had been a technology teacher at the school, everything from shop, to computers and robotics.
He was placed on leave when the investigation started.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the District Attorney's Special Victim's Bureau at 315-435-2470, or the Sheriff's Office Abused Person's unit at 315-435-3092.
