The "pay as you wish" policy at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is changing slightly.

The Met is switching verbiage on its signs from saying "recommended admission" to "suggested admission."

Signs will also make it clear how much visitors pay is up to them.

The decision looks to settle a 2013 lawsuit claiming the museum misleads visitors by implying they have to pay the full amount.

The museum denied the allegations, but says it will make changes at both its Fifth Avenue location and the Met Cloisters.

"I think that its going to encourage a few more people to come here who wouldn't ordinarily," said one museum goer. "But I think it could ultimately drive down revenue," said another.

"They're almost the same words so you think that it might still be confusing," said another.

"I think it might make a difference if you said suggested donation, and that would be a whole kind of different situation," said a third. "But I think you're talking about some semantics."

The changes coincide with the opening next month of the Met Breuer at Madison Avenue and 75th Street. The court must approve the settlement.
