RALEIGH, N.C. — Andrew Rea has always had a love of film and food, but little did he know 10 years ago when he made his first-ever online video that combining the two would launch a wildly successful career.
In 2016, Rea launched a YouTube show named after one of his handles, Binging with Babish, that creates recipes based off of films and television shows we love. A simple concept that has gained a significant following, with more than six million subscribers growing each day.
From Cannoli inspired by The Godfather, to The Michael Scott Pretzel inspired by The Office, Rea takes dishes we’ve thought or talked about and makes them a reality. And now he’s compiled his 100 favorite recipes into one book and is traveling the country meeting his fans, hearing stories, and signing copies.
Spectrum News anchor Caroline Blair sat down with the creative cooking sensation, for an In Depth look at how it all started, and where he hopes to go from here.
