CLEVELAND — Energy company NOPEC is warning residents of scammers going door-to-door impersonating NOPEC employees.
The company said there have been reports of people visiting homes wearing NOPEC-branded clothes and claiming to be employees. These scammers may ask to see utility bills or ask to click on suspicious links.
NOPEC doesn't go door-to-door, it said. It also advised to never show utility bills, as scammers could steal information.
The company said if residents believe they have been scammed, they can go to the NOPEC website for next steps.
