RALEIGH, N.C. — The Institute for Transportation Research and Education continues to make great strides when it comes to providing training and data in North Carolina.
ITRE is located on N.C. State's campus and utilizes roughly 100 university students along with a staff of about 50 people.
The director of ITRE, Billy Williams, says they work with everyone from people just getting into the industry to transportation executives.
"We have a mission to keep our eyes on all things transportation across the state and look for ways to incorporate intelligence and ideas and resources across our different colleges,” Williams says.
Williams said the prioity is making transportation safe and efficient.
ITRE recently received a $3 million grant from the federal government for a rail crossing elimination project.
