RALEIGH, N.C. — Protests are continuing across the country and here in North Carolina over the lack of charges against the Louisville police officers involved in the death of Breonna Taylor.

On Saturday night, protests erupted in downtown Raleigh, which police deemed an unlawful assembly.

The day started with an anti-corruption rally in front of the Wake County courthouse, with people calling for systematic change to provide equal protection for all.

The protest, held by the Save Our Sons organization remained peaceful the entire time. In the evening, another protest at downtown's Nash Square drew roughly 600 people demanding justice for the death of Breonna Taylor.

However, the protest turned violent into the night. Bottle rockets were thrown at officers, windows were smashed, and barricades were pushed over.

The curfew originally set for 11 p.m. was changed to 9 p.m. when police officially declared it an unlawful assembly ordering everyone to disperse.

Raleigh Police tweeted that 12 arrests were made during last night's protests.
