RALEIGH, N.C. -- A non-profit in the Triangle is continuing its mission despite the difficulties of the pandemic.

The Green Chair Project furnishes living spaces for people coming out of crisis situations.

Chef Scott Crawford and tech company Lenovo have partnered with the group over the summer to give an extra helping hand.

Scott Crawford is the chef and owner of Crawford and Son and Jolie in Raleigh. He has worked with the Green Chair Project in the past.

But when he learned the non-profit was seeing a need for food when it was delivering beds to clients during the pandemic, he quickly partnered with Lenovo to figure out a way to help. Each delivery of a bed for a child now comes with a box of fresh food prepared by Crawford.

“It’s just something we can offer and we obviously have commercial kitchen space," Crawford said. " I just scheduled it into my weekly routines so that we can provide this for them.”

Lenovo is funding the cost of meals for the summer, as well as $175,000 to purchase 700 beds over the next three years.

“I cook the food I like to eat so there’s some love put into the food," Crawford said. "Hopefully some of that will translate.”
