CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. -- Neighbors on Wayland Drive in Fayetteville are waiting on flood waters to recede so they can drive back to their homes.

A storm on Thursday, February 6 left upwards of two feet of water on the road. One man's truck got stuck in the flood causing him to call for extra help to pull it out. Another resident says a tree fell on her home but didn't leave any major damage.

Officials with the fire department said luckily the water didn't make it inside anyone's home.

"The water comes up here and it doesn't drain like it's supposed to," Fayetteville resident, Berline Curry said. "I think if they put some pipes in the ground where the water can go, it wouldn't rise up like this."

Firefighters said they aren't sure when the water will subside for neighbors to safely drive back to their houses.
