Since then, the principal has closed the gym for construction. Students now have P.E. in their classrooms or outside. School leaders also brought in counselors for students to talk through the terrifying experience.
“We saved some of the bricks from the building, and they’ve been painting those, and we’re going to make it so they can take them home at the end of the year at our final 5th-grade ceremony that’ll we’ll have at the end of the year,” Principal at Union Intermediate School, Dondi Hobbs said.
The school is also accepting donations. Anyone interested in giving can mail your gift to the school or stop by in person. The address to the school is 1190 Edmond Matthis Rd, Clinton, NC 28328.
