FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Two years after a Fort Bragg soldier was murdered in Raleigh, his family is still desperate to find out who is responsible.

Specialist Jose Melendez was shot while walking to his car after bringing a friend home on November 29, 2017.

Since his death, there have been no arrests for the killing and his family says they haven't been able to move forward because they still don't know why this happened.

"Two years later, a $20,000 reward is out there. Money should not be a driving force behind someone coming forward but there is someone out there that definitely knows what happened....if they're watching, come out, do the right thing and provide closure for our family," says Jose's father Andres Ramos.

Raleigh Police say there are no new updates in the investigation and detectives continue to solicit the public for information.
