WAKE COUNTY, N.C. -- Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to two separate scenes in Garner following a shooting call earlier on Thursday. 

  • Two people were shot at a Walgreens in Garner.
  • The suspect was arrested at a Golden Corral about six minutes away.
  • The victims are a 31-year-old female and a 33-year-old male.

According to Garner Police, two employees were shot at the Walgreens on US 70 just after 10:00 a.m.

 

 

Following a short manhunt, the suspect was located outside of the Golden Corral on Tryon Road in Raleigh and arrested.
 
Police say the suspect was taken to Wake Med, but would not say how the suspect was injured, or what injuries they have.
 
The SBI has stepped in to investigate, which is standard procedure when a suspect is injured while interacting with law enforcement. We are told no law enforcement officers were injured.

 

It is unclear at this time why the suspect shot the employees of the Walgreens, but police say they are a 31-year-old female and a 33-year-old male.

They were taken to Wake med with serious injuries. 

Golden Corral released the following statement on the shooting: 

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and all of those who were affected by this unfortunate incident. We are grateful for the quick response of the authorities. The restaurant was closed when the suspect was apprehended and no guests were in danger. We have made counselors available for our co-workers who were in the restaurant. The safety of our guests and co-workers is always our first priority. For any other information, we refer you to law enforcement."
