APEX, N.C. -- The FBI and Apex police have killed a person believed to be on the FBI's Top 10 Most Wanted list.

Agents located the fugitive, Greg Alyn Carlson, Wednesday at the Woodspring Suites on Lufkin Road in Apex.

During the search, Carlson was found armed and was shot and killed.

Carlson was wanted in connection with multiple sexual assaults in Los Angeles, California, and had charges including burglary, assault with intent to commit rape, and assault with a deadly weapon.

Officials say he was one of the few criminals named on the fugitives list who was not wanted for murder.

He's been on the FBI's Top 10 list since September 2018.
