ORANGE COUNTY, N.C. -- A major breakthrough is coming out about a 20-year-old murder case.

  • In 1998, deputies found a little boy dead underneath a billboard
  • Authorities know his name, where he came from, and the murder suspect
  • Authorities have yet to release the name of the suspect, but say it's the boy's father.

Back in 1998, deputies found a little boy dead underneath a billboard.

Now, authorities know his name, where he came from, and the murder suspect; the boy's father.

Last December, the original investigator on the case made a huge break.

Through ancestry DNA, the investigator was able to make a connection with the boy's relative.

The relative identified the boy as Bobby Whitt, from Ohio.

Police believe the same suspect killed the boy's mother in 1998 and left her body in South Carolina.

Authorities have yet to release the name of the suspect.
