HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. -- Police want to make it easier for you to report tips to officers.
- Hillsborough PD launched the "See Something, Send Something" app
- Users can report suspicious activity to police from their smartphones
- Pictures and videos can be sent, and users can check the statuses of their tips
Hillsborough Police Department launched the “See Something, Send Something” app, which allows users to report suspicious activity to police from their smartphones.
“I thought it was an excellent idea. There are times when you see something, and you think 'That's a little odd,” said Pringle Teetor, who co-runs an art gallery in downtown.
“I think it's a great idea. We use our phone all the time. We use our apps for so many different things,” said R.J. Crumpler who also works in downtown.
“This app allows you to document what you see, take photos and video, and send it to us. By using this technology, you are helping us by being another set of eyes. Please, if you see something, send something!,” said Sgt. William Parker of the Community Services Division in a statement.
Police say app users can anonymously send and check the statuses of their tips. Police also say the app isn't intended for emergencies and people should still call 911.
