DURHAM, N.C. — Saturday was the last day for customers to come and get their sugar fix.
- The Cupcake Bar is closing its doors
- The owner says she's ready to take a break from baking
- The building has been sold
The Cupcake Bar closed its shop after ten years. It served as downtown Durham's sweet tooth.
“It's bittersweet. We sold the location where we are,” owner Anna Branly said.
Branly says she's ready to turn the page in her cookbook and take a break from baking.
“If you've never worked in food service or retail, it's long days. It's difficult and it takes a lot of commitment,” she said.
“I'm very sad about this. The cupcakes, they're wonderful. They're tasty and just hit the spot,” said customer Mary Ende, who stopped by the shop once a week.
Branley says she sold the building, but wouldn't say what the new owners will do with the place.
