DUNN, N.C. -- The man charged in a shootout with law enforcement officers in Harnett County over the weekend will remain behind bars.

  • Officers responded to a domestic call involving weapons Friday night in Dunn.
  • Suspect, Trevor West, allegedly opened fire on the officers.
  • West was grazed by a bullet but no officers were hit.

According to Harnett County officials, the incident happened on Friday night when four officers responded to a domestic assault call on Pope Road in Dunn.

When they arrived, they found 27-year-old Trevor West flashing a handgun.

Authorities say West failed to comply and began shooting at the officers. That’s when a deputy and a police officer returned fire.

West spent the weekend in the hospital and was released Sunday night.

West was the only one who was injured in the shootout after a bullet grazed his head.

The four law enforcement officers are on administrative leave which is standard procedure any time there's an officer involved shooting.

West faces several charges including four counts of attempted murder.

Monday, the judge decided to maintain West’s $4 million bond and the additional $10,000 bond.

West will be back in court on July 10.
