LUMBERTON, N.C. - James Jimmy Jones of Lumberton is an 89 year old veteran of World War II. He's also one of less than 300 surviving members of the famous Tuskegee Airmen. That African American fighter squadron served during that conflict at a time when the armed forces of the United States were still segregated.
The 89-year-old veteran often shares stories of the history of the fighter squadron with others.
Time Warner Cable reporter David Ivey has more on his story.
