WILSON -- For more than 100 years The Wilson Hardware Company has served the community, but its doors will soon be closing.
The hardware store is rich in history, lasting three generation of ownership dating back to 1907.
The owners say closing the store will leave behind more than brick walls and an empty building, but decades worth of community relationships.
"I'll miss the people. I'll miss the action that goes on in downtown around us and knowing what's going on and being a part of the community," said Bowie Gray, the third generation of ownership to The Wilson Hardware Company.
"It's time to say goodbye. It's a bittersweet goodbye. We've had wonderful customers, reliable customers, and now our chapter will close," added Linda Dew, a bookeeper for the store since 1969.
The owners say quality customer service is what set them apart from the big box retailers over the years.
All the items in the store are being sold at discounted prices before the final day of business on June 30tth.
