CHARLOTTE -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police took one man into custody following an hours-long standoff overnight in east Charlotte.
CMPD has not released any details yet on who that man is or exactly what happened Sunday night at the Timber Ridge apartments on Barrington Drive.
Police presence was heavy at the complex all night. At one point, they cut off power to some apartment units and evacuated some residents. The SWAT team was called in as well to negotiate with the man.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
This isn't the first time residents at Timber Ridge saw a police situation unfold right in front of them. In 2007, CMPD officers Jeff Shelton and Sean Clark were shot and killed while responding to a disturbance call at the same apartment complex.
The suspect in that case, Demeatrius Montgomery, is in jail without parole.
