NORTH RALEIGH- A man is warning the public about the dangers of coyotes in his neighborhood.
Richard Cashman saw a coyote attack one of his dogs in his backyard on Scenic Drive on Friday.
Cashman said within seconds his dog was gone.
"I heard yip, yip, yip, and then a yap,” Cashman said. “I reached right here in the driveway and looked down, and that's when I saw down there a coyote with her hanging out of its mouth. She was obviously dead at that point."
Cashman said he also believes coyotes are to blame for one of his dogs that went missing two months ago.
Neighbors in the area also reported missing cats, dogs and chickens.
Though neighbors suspected coyotes attacked their animals, Friday’s incident was the first time an eye witness has been present during an attack.
