WILSON - A popular barbecue restaurant in Wilson is closed because of a fire.
The Wilson Times is reporting that Bill Ellis Barbeque on the corner of Forest Hills Road and Downing Street caught fire around 8 p.m. Sunday night.
The fire started in the kitchen.
The restaurant first opened in 1963 and was forced to close in 1999 after Hurricane Floyd.
It’s unclear when it will reopen.
