SPRING LAKE, N.C. - The mayor of Spring Lake is considering a run for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate seat, currently held by Republican Richard Burr.
The Fayetteville Observer reports Mayor Chris Rey says he's discussing the decision with his wife and anticipates having an answer by the second week of September.
Democrats have been seeking a candidate who can take on burr since former senator Kay Hagan announced she would not run.
